Bilingual Insurance Claims Assessor — Remote



Exciting remote contract opportunity in the insurance industry for a detail-oriented claims professional. Support a high-impact project assessing life and AD&D claims with empathy and precision. Full-time, 12-month role with potential extension. Based in Halifax, Montreal, or Ontario. Training provided.

Responsibilities:




• Review plan member or dependent coverage and eligibility.


• Confirm applicable contract provisions for each claim.


• Verify enrolment and beneficiary details.


• Analyze proof of death or loss documentation.


• Review supporting medical, police, and investigative reports.


• Calculate eligible benefits based on policy terms.


• Prepare and maintain claim system records for payment and audit purposes.


• Communicate claim decisions to beneficiaries and clients with empathy and clarity.


• Support beneficiaries and family members in obtaining required documents.


• Assist plan sponsors with questions regarding enrolment and claim submission.



Qualifications:




• High school diploma required.


• 0–2 years of related experience; training will be provided.


• Previous experience in life or disability claims is an asset.


• Experience in the group benefits or insurance industry preferred.


• Ability to interpret contractual wording is an advantage.


• Bilingual in English and French to support clear, empathetic communication with clients and beneficiaries.


• Ability to show empathy and professionalism in sensitive situations.


• Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.


• Capacity to assess risk and make sound decisions independently.


• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.


• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
