Job Summary:

The primary role of the Clinical Pharmacist – Client Advisor is to develop, manage, and deliver Express Scripts Canada pharmacy benefit management services and programs. In addition, the Clinical Pharmacist – Client Advisor, in collaboration with the Account Management team, is responsible for building and maintaining key relationships within an assigned client portfolio to understand and anticipate clients' needs and expectations. The Clinical Pharmacist – Client Advisor provides leadership to the Prior Authorization Program and collaborates with cross-functional committees to deliver high quality and clinically sound products and formularies. The role is responsible for contributing specialized clinical knowledge to the direction of existing and new products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Express Scripts Canada in a client facing role as subject matter expert on drug formulary, drug trends, and clinical programs interact with internal and external customers to provide insights on pharmacy practice, drug trends, medical advances and legislation
  • Provide strategic direction and clinical expertise to guide the implementation, communication, education and maintenance of clinical programs and formularies
  • Serve as clinical thought-leader on the Drug Plan Validation Committee, providing knowledge transfer to Express Scripts Canada customers (insurance carriers and third party administrators) on complex clinical topics
  • Provide leadership to the Prior Authorization program and review Prior Authorization requests, including gathering medical information, making coverage decisions, and communicating with patients, physicians or pharmacists as required
  • Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of patient status within the operations systems. Comply to ESC policies and procedures to safeguard personal information (PI) and personal health information (PHI).

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy; license to practice pharmacy in a province of Canada
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in direct patient care, drug evaluation, and/or drug information activities
  • Knowledge and experience in private/public drug plan reimbursement is required
  • Knowledge in specialized areas such as Neurology/Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and tactfully
  • Ability to build strong rapport with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Effective facilitation and presentation skills
  • Superior analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt in a dynamic fast-paced work environment
  • Team player and ability to work cross-functionally with other departments
  • Strong organizational skills, proactive and solution-oriented
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite of tools
  • Drug database knowledge and experience is considered an asset
