<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: <br /><p>Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.</p><p></p><p>Job Title: Community Connections Officer</p><p>Location: Corner Brook, NL</p><p>Position Type: 1 full-time position until March 31, 2026, with possibility of extension pending budget availability and satisfactory performance</p><p>Closing date: October 21, 2025, or until filled</p><p></p><p>Reporting to the Regional Settlement Coordinator in Corner Brook, the Community Connections Officer will be responsible for connecting newcomers and their families to a wide array of internal and external supports including community agencies, volunteer programming, schooling, etc. </p><p></p><p>Roles and Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Identify, maintain, and build community partnerships to support newcomers and their families as they settle and integrate into the local community</li></ul><ul><li>Deliver the Canada Connects and Community Connections Program</li></ul><ul><li>In collaboration with the Regional Settlement Coordinator, recruit, train, and manage volunteers involved in programming in their respective regions</li></ul><ul><li>In collaboration with the Regional Settlement Coordinator, deliver orientation and professional development sessions for volunteers in their respective regions</li></ul><ul><li>Identity funding opportunities and assist in preparing proposals to mark key events (e.g., Canada Day, Multiculturalism Day/Week, Black History Month, etc.) </li></ul><ul><li>Attend, organize, and deliver social, cultural, recreational and community events to support newcomers' and their families community integration </li></ul><ul><li>Provide guidance and support to newcomer children and youth attending school </li></ul><ul><li>Implement developed strategies for supports to newcomer children experiencing transitional issues adjusting to life in Canada </li></ul><ul><li>Provide youth and young adults with guidance on managing their educational transition plan </li></ul><ul><li>Facilitate the delivery of various ESL-focused school activities, as required or necessary</li></ul><ul><li>Remain abreast of current volunteer resources, trends, needs, changes, and service gaps </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure timely entry of program and statistical data into NewOrg to ensure funder compliance </li></ul><ul><li>Participate in staff meetings, committees, boards, working groups, conferences and professional learning, as required or directed </li></ul><ul><li>Ensure program activities are delivered in a manner consistent with a trauma informed approach </li></ul><ul><li>Provide support and assistance to the Regional Settlement Coordinator on the following, as necessary: </li></ul><ul><li>Conduct needs assessments with children and youth and develop strategies for support</li></ul><ul><li>Deliver newcomer orientations to, and link families to resources within, the NLESD/NLFSD system </li></ul><ul><li>Collaborate with other employees, teachers, school administrators, volunteers, and stakeholders to help identify and resolve any settlement-integration issues</li></ul><ul><li>Promote and support the Private Sponsorship Program, as required or necessary</li></ul><p></p><p>Qualifications and Experience:</p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in social sciences, Social Work, or Humanities with a minimum of three years relevant experience or any combination of equivalent experience and education </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to effectively engage with a variety of stakeholders, including volunteers</li></ul><ul><li>Strong interpersonal, presentation, and communication (both written and verbal) skills </li></ul><ul><li>Demonstrated relationship-building and community connections skills </li></ul><ul><li>Possess cultural humility in working with a diverse client and employee group </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment</li></ul><ul><li>Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to speak a second language an asset </li></ul><ul><li>Experience working with volunteers will be an asset </li></ul><ul><li>Experience working in the non-profit sector will be an asset</li></ul><p></p><p>Conditions of Employment:</p><ul><li>Legal authorization to work in Canada</li></ul><ul><li>Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am -
