The Position:
Neelands Group Limited is searching for a Construction Refrigeration 313A Apprentice (Term 3) to join our team at the Burlington, Ontario location. This is a regular, full-time union position with a full union compensation package.
Responsibilities:
Accurately measure and layout plan for refrigeration system installation in accordance with project plans and specifications.
Assemble and install commercial refrigeration or cold storage units, including walk-in coolers/freezers and rack systems.
Installation of refrigeration lines
Carefully read and interpret blueprints to ensure proper specifications
Measure, cut, and connect pipe to components and refrigeration systems using welding and brazing equipment
Assist in the commissioning and start-up of refrigeration systems.
Ensure the necessary materials required for the project are on hand and readily available
Handle, store, recover, and charge refrigerants safely in accordance with environmental and safety regulations
Safely perform pressure test once pipework is complete to test for leaks
Repair and alter pressure system if leak or damage is found
Maintain a clean and organized worksite, adhering to health and safety protocols.
Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration system issues (mechanical and electrical) under guidance or independently.
Support journeypersons in various installation and commissioning tasks.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Registered 3rd year refrigeration apprentice
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in supermarket or commercial refrigeration installation.
Strong mechanical aptitude
Valid G license with a clean driver abstract
Ability to travel when required
Familiarity with CO₂ refrigeration systems is considered an asset.
