<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: $75,000.00 $85,000.00(Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.)<br /><p>The Opportunity:</p><p><br /></p><p>We are looking for a Contracts Specialist to support our Canadian engineering and environmental consulting operations. This role focuses on reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts, terms & conditions, and commercial risks for a wide range of public and private sector projects. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of professional services agreements, Canadian procurement practices, and engineering consulting frameworks.</p><p><br /></p><p>As a Contracts Specialist, you will review, interpret, and administer contracts across a range of consulting projects. You will liaise with project managers, clients, and external partners to ensure contractual obligations are met accurately and in a timely manner. Your legal background and attention to detail will support risk management, compliance, and alignment with company policies. This is a future position within the organization.</p><p><br /></p><p>Job Responsibilities:</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Review and negotiate client agreements, subconsultant contracts, NDAs, and teaming agreements in compliance with Canadian laws and industry practices.</li><li>Evaluate terms and conditions for risk exposure (e.g., indemnity, insurance, limitation of liability, warranties) and propose revisions or alternatives.</li><li>Support the proposal and business development teams during RFP/RFQ reviews.</li><li>Liaise with internal stakeholders including project managers, legal counsel, finance, and health & safety to ensure contract compliance and risk mitigation.</li><li>Draft and manage contract modifications, scope changes, and client correspondence throughout the project lifecycle.</li><li>Track contractual obligations, deliverables, and expiry/renewal dates using appropriate tools and systems.</li><li>Support claims management and dispute resolution, working closely with legal and operations teams as needed.</li><li>Assist with developing standard contract templates, clause libraries, and commercial policies tailored to the Canadian consulting environment.</li><li>Provide training and support to project teams on contract awareness and best practices.</li></ul><p><br><br></p><p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p><p><br /></p><ul><li>Diploma or degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Contract Management, Law, Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.<br /></li><li>5+ years of experience in contracts or commercial management, ideally within a Canadian engineering or environmental consulting firm.</li><li>Strong understanding of Canadian contract law, public procurement rules, and professional liability issues in consulting.</li><li>Familiarity with standard forms of agreement used in Canada, such as ACEC, CCDC, or client-specific contract formats.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to analyze complex contractual language and identify commercial risks.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and written communication skills.</li><li>Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or contract lifecycle management systems.<br /></li><li>A valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.</li><li>Secret level security clearance (or eligibility to obtain one) is required for this role, due to the nature of certain client and project work.</li><li>Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.</li></ul><p></p><p>About BluMetric Environmental Inc.</p><p></p><p>BluMetric Environmental Inc. is a publicly traded environmental consulting and engineering company with expertise across professional and trade disciplines and technologies that allow for the design, fabrication and delivery of sustainable solutions to environmental and water challenges.
