<p><b>Job Location:</b> Ottawa, ON</p>
<p><b>Work Model:</b> Hybrid</p>
<p><b>Position Summary:</b> As an Electronics Engineer in our Product Development group, you will play a key part in the selection, test, evaluation, and support of electronics and systems that support a range of CBN identity products and identity‑adjacent systems. The position requires a generalist, with a broad range of interests and abilities, and a particular focus on HF RFID products.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define system requirements and architectural specifications.</li>
<li>Work closely with critical suppliers to ensure a mutually supportive relationship.</li>
<li>Evaluate, test, and support electronic hardware for smartcards, camera and PC peripherals applications.</li>
<li>Work with other team members in image processing and computer vision tasks.</li>
<li>Apply cryptography and security technology knowledge to ePassport and smartcard projects.</li>
<li>Conduct system‑level debugging, validation, and performance optimization.</li>
<li>Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in electronics, smartcards, and image processing. Research and recommend improvements to existing products and designs.</li>
<li>Provide troubleshooting support to resolve hardware issues in deployed systems.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Documentation</h3>
<ul>
<li>Create detailed documentation that captures design processes, technical specifications, and test procedures.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Compliance</h3>
<ul>
<li>Ensure product designs meet industry standards (FCC, CE, RoHS, ISO) and regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with industry standards and security protocols for eID and ePassport systems (e.g., ISO/IEC, ICAO, EMV, GlobalPlatform).</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<h3>Education and Knowledge</h3>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related.</li>
<li>Knowledge of the following:</li>
<ul>
<li>Smartcard and RFID (HF and UHF) systems and operations</li>
<li>Antenna theory</li>
<li>Image processing</li>
</ul>
<li>Nice to have (but not required):</li>
<ul>
<li>Familiarity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) ePassport standards and compliance frameworks</li>
<li>Familiarity with ISO SC17 standards</li>
<li>Post‑Quantum cryptography</li>
</ul>
</ul>

<li>3‑7 years of experience in relevant position (electrical engineering, embedded systems, smartcards, etc.).</li>
<li>Range of application experience</li>

<h3>Technical Environment</h3>
<ul>
<li>Embedded Systems: Smartcard Security processors, ARM Cortex, AVR, Raspberry Pi.</li>
<li>Programming Languages: Java, JavaCard, C#, Python, ISO 7816.</li>
<li>Industry Standards & Compliance: ISO, ICAO, AAMVA, FCC, CE, RoHS.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Mandatory Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Language: Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).</li>
<li>Security Clearance: Ability to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) personal security clearance.</li>
