Partner Staffing on behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to support the planning and delivery of major infrastructure and building projects throughout Edmonton and the surrounding region. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to develop accurate, competitive, and well-supported cost estimates for projects ranging from municipal infrastructure and civil works to commercial and institutional buildings.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare full-cycle cost estimates for infrastructure, civil, and building projects, including quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and pricing.
- Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to identify scope requirements, risk factors, cost drivers, and opportunities for value engineering.
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns, unit rates, and labour/equipment/productivity allowances based on industry standards and project-specific conditions.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain pricing, clarify scopes, and confirm constructability considerations.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and design reviews to ensure accurate cost assessment.
- Prepare tender submissions, schedules of quantities, cash flow projections, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain databases of historical costs, subcontractor/supplier lists, and market pricing for continuous improvement.
- Support project handover by communicating estimate assumptions, constraints, and risk items to the project execution team.
- Assist with change order pricing, budget updates, and cost forecasting as required.
- Contribute to estimating process improvements and mentor junior team members when appropriate.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in construction estimating within infrastructure, civil, or building sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, unit rates, labour productivity, and market conditions.
- Proven experience with municipal infrastructure, civil works, structural and architectural building elements, or related scopes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field considered an asset.
- CET, PMP, PQS, Gold Seal, or relevant professional designation is an advantage.
