Welder / Fitter – Production Shop

Location: Production Shop
Hours: 7:00am – 3:30pm

About the Role

Our Welder/Fitter plays a key role in the custom fabrication and repair of waste and recycling equipment. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints while utilizing a variety of measuring tools. You will also contribute to equipment refurbishment projects.

You will primarily work with black steel (mild carbon) in multiple gauges (10, 12, 14) and plate thicknesses (3/16”, 1/4”, 3/8”). Welding tasks may range from small 1-inch stitch welds to continuous beads several feet long and may occasionally include round bars and pipes of similar thickness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture and repair waste and recycling equipment using MIG welding and torch cutting.
  • Lay out, position, and secure parts and assemblies to meet specifications.
  • Use a range of hand and power tools for fabrication tasks.
  • Read, interpret, and build components based on shop drawings.
  • Safely lift materials and components up to 50 lbs.
  • Work independently while also collaborating effectively with the team.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Proven MIG welding experience.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Experience with fitting and fabrication processes.
  • Confident using a wide range of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret a measuring tape.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Torch cutting and forklift operation experience an asset, but not required.
