Salary:

We are looking for a reliable, team-player who takes pride in the accuracy of their work, enjoys working with their hands and does not mind the dirt and noise. An individual with the stamina and ability to stand for long periods of time and work in all-weather conditions.

With this entry level position, the ideal candidate is someone who possesses a strong work ethic, demonstrates a positive attitude, shows initiative, is reliable, has good attendance, and can follow instructions, especially the company's Health & Safety rules.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties and responsibilities assigned to this position are as follows:

• Identify, pick and sort various (scrap) metal pieces
• Ensures the quality of the metals/materials being sorted and picked
• Shovels work area and cleans equipment as often as required
• Recognizes operational issues and reports them to the manager
• Operates equipment (when required) while adhering to all safe work practices and procedures
• Works in accordance with all company health & safety guidelines
• Assists in other areas of the business as the need arises
• Other duties as assigned by the manager

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• We are willing to train the right candidate, however, previous experience in a scrapyard, processing plant or construction-like setting is considered an asset
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (working at elevated heights, working in all weather conditions, standing for long periods of time, lifting of up to 50lbs)
• Reliability and a strong attendance record
• Quick and attentive learner
• Detail-oriented and consistent performer
• Good hand-eye coordination
• Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
• Working knowledge of safety standards
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally, and respectfully with a positive attitude in a fast-paced working environment
• High level of personal integrity; must be trustworthy
• Strong work ethic and ability to complete work in a timely manner
• Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
• Strong team player

This position works Monday to Friday starting at 7am. Candidates must be available to work longer hours if necessary (overtime) and as needed.
