The Role: Head Chef

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head Chef to take the helm of our kitchen. This is a pivotal leadership role with the opportunity to shape the culinary direction of our pub. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen operations, from menu innovation to team management, ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Kitchen Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the kitchen team, fostering a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment.
  • Quality Control: Oversee all food preparation and presentation to ensure exceptional quality and consistency for every dish served.
  • Supplier Relations: Maintain and develop strong relationships with local farmers, purveyors, and suppliers to source the finest ingredients.
  • Operational Management: Manage inventory, ordering, food costing, and waste control to achieve financial targets without compromising quality.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure the kitchen operates in full compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Menu Development is a possibility for individuals to design and execute creative, seasonal menus that showcase the best local ingredients and complement our extensive craft beer selection.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned culinary professional with a genuine passion for food and a proven track record of leadership in a high-quality, fast-paced kitchen.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a Head Chef or senior Sous Chef role, preferably within a gastropub or similar high-volume, quality-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in menu creation, food costing, and kitchen management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A creative culinary approach with a deep understanding of seasonal, locally-sourced cooking.
  • Experience in food and beer pairing is highly advantageous.
  • A commitment to excellence and a passion for mentoring and developing a kitchen brigade.
