<p><p><b>LAT - ST grade in Neurology</b> role at <b>NHS Ayrshire & Arran</b></p><p>1 week ago Be among the first 25 applicants</p>
<p><b>Shift pattern</b>: Monday to Friday with oncall.</p>
<p><b>Term</b>: Fixed term post for 6 months.</p>
<p>The duties will be those of an ST grade doctor and include the overall management of patients in the ward and clinic under the supervision of Consultants. The level of responsibility allowed in patient management and operating will be related to the individual’s level of experience, but is expected to be close to that of an ST trainee.</p>
<p>Every effort will be made to facilitate further training in the sub‑specialist area(s) of the candidate’s choice. On‑call support is available 24/7.</p>
<h3>Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Clinical Duties: support the department in seeing the whole spectrum of Neurology patients. This will range from planned admission to transfers from other services with the areas the unit covers. Work with senior supervision as an additional member of the junior tier, focusing on prioritisation of workload, formulation of investigation and management plans.</li>
<li>Teaching / Supervision: attend departmental teaching sessions for junior doctors during the posting.</li>
<li>Administration: participate in day‑to‑day running of the department by undertaking administrative activities such as organisation of some postgraduate training or meetings, patient reports and letters. May attend weekly meetings as the Registrar staff representative; supervising and coordinating junior staff leave and on‑call requirements.</li>
<li>Communication: discuss with neurology colleagues regarding clinical problems, communicate with General Practitioners, liaise with other specialists, and interact with other agencies such as the Procurator Fiscal, police etc.</li>
