Job Description
Overview
The Manager, HR Business Partner (Canada) will serve as the primary HRBP for all Canadian operations, providing expert guidance on employee relations, talent management, compliance, and HR processes. This role acts as the senior Canadian HR voice on local employment practices while partnering closely with the Senior Manager, HRBP in the U.S. to ensure alignment with global People & Culture standards. The role includes both hands‑on support and leadership responsibilities, working across functions to enable strong employee experience and effective people practices. The current HRBP in Saskatoon will provide day‑to‑day support and partner closely with this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Canadian HR Leadership & Partnership (30%): Serve as the lead HRBP for Canada, advising leaders on employment matters, employee relations, performance, and organizational needs.
- Ensure Canadian‑specific legislation, policies, and HR practices are up to date and consistently applied.
- Provide strategic input to the Senior Manager, HRBP on Canadian trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Employee Relations (25%): Lead or support investigations, conflict resolution, performance matters, and corrective actions in partnership with managers.
- Oversee terminations, severance processes, documentation, and compliance with Canadian employment standards.
- Maintain employee data, case documentation, and reporting to support compliance and organizational insights.
- Talent & Onboarding (20%): Partner with managers on hiring decisions, onboarding planning, and team integration.
- Support execution of talent initiatives, development programs, and coaching for Canadian teams.
- Collaborate with the Senior Manager, HRBP to deploy P&C programs and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Compliance & Policy Management (15%): Ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation across Canadian provinces.
- Partner with P&C Centers of Excellence on policy updates, health & safety requirements, and HR processes.
- Support audits, data accuracy, and execute required employer filings.
- Collaboration & Support (10%): Work closely with the Saskatoon HRBP, who will support both functional and business‑unit activities.
- Work closely with U.S.-based P&C leaders to align policies, programs, drive shared initiatives, and maintain consistent employee experiences across the global operation.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including HRBP responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of Canadian employment law across multiple provinces.
- Experience supporting technical, operations, or multi‑site teams preferred.
- CPHR designation is an asset.
