<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p>Salary: <br /><p>Job Title: Manager, Sport Partnerships & Events<br />Organization: Tourism Kingston<br />Location: 177 Wellington Street, Suite 200<br />Reports to: CEO<br />Job Type: Full-Time Permanent, On-Site</p><p><br /></p><p>POSITION SUMMARY<br />Tourism Kingston is hiring a strategic and relationship-driven leader to manage sport partnerships, events, and wellness initiatives. Reporting to the CEO, this role oversees event attraction, sales development, and community engagement, including direct management of the Sport Business Development and Communications Manager. The successful candidate will bring expertise in sport tourism, bid development, and stakeholder collaboration, with flexibility to support events outside regular business hours.</p><p><br /></p><p>RESPONSIBILITIES<br />Strategic Planning & Leadership<br /> Lead implementation of the Sport Tourism Strategic Framework, Kingston Sport Tourism Venue Inventory and Assessment study, and the City of Kingstons Parks and Recreation Master Plan.<br /> Develop a multi-year event attraction strategy with a triple bottom line approach: economic, social/cultural, and environmental sustainability.<br /> Set and achieve sales and revenue targets in collaboration with the CEO, demonstrating sector leadership.<br /> Manage Sport Business Development and Communication Manager, providing mentorship and strategic oversight.<br />Marketing & Promotion<br /> Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop and execute a sport tourism marketing strategy for Kingston.<br /> Represent Tourism Kingston, its partners, and the community in a positive, professional, and enthusiastic manner.<br />Event Development & Execution<br /> Establish sport hosting legacy guidelines for all events, beginning at the bid stage.<br /> Collaborate with local sport organizations to develop compelling bid packages and respond to RFIs.<br /> Develop and maintain a volunteer portal to support small- and large-scale community events.<br /> Provide in-destination support by coordinating with accommodations, attractions, and transportation partners.<br />Community Engagement & Partnerships<br /> Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, sport organizations, agencies, and volunteers.<br /> Foster partnerships with municipal stakeholders, community groups, and government agencies to promote community development.<br /> Support local sport organizations in accessing community grants and funding opportunities.<br /> Execute on Truth and Reconciliation Actions 87, 91, and 92.<br />Sales & Business Development<br /> Maintain and grow the sport and wellness sales pipeline.<br /> Proactively identify and pursue qualified leads and pay-to-play partnerships.<br />Program Evaluation & Reporting<br /> Assess and evaluate recreation and culture programs, operations, and facilities to align with best practices and emerging trends.<br /> Track and evaluate sport and wellness initiatives using CRM tools.<br /> Prepare reports and presentations for Committees and Council, offering strategic advice on projects and opportunities.<br /> Communicate progress regularly to the CEO, board, and other stakeholders.<br />Budget & Administration<br /> Develop and manage a balanced operating budget aligned with strategic priorities, sustainability, and EDII principles.<br /> Stay informed on local, national, and international sport and wellness trends.</p><p><br />QUALIFICATIONS<br /> A degree/diploma in sport and event marketing, sport/wellness management, sport/wellness administration, business administration, tourism management, or a related field.<br /> A minimum of 5 years of experience working in sport and wellness management or administration<br /> Demonstrated broad-based knowledge of sport and wellness strategies at the local, national, and international level, and a keen interest in the sport and wellness industry is required.<br /> Strong knowledge of Kingston and the surrounding area.</p><p><br />ASSET QUALIFICATIONS<br /> Experience using CRM software.<br /> Familiarity with grant writing and securing funding for sport, wellness, or cultural initiatives.<br /> Knowledge of event legacy planning and sustainable event practices.<br /> Experience working with volunteer coordination platforms or managing volunteer teams.<br /> Understanding of municipal processes, including presenting to Council or working with city departments.<br /> Demonstrated commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigenization (EDII) in program development and stakeholder engagement.</p><p><br />DISCLAIMER<br />The job description outlined above is meant to describe the general nature of work<br />being performed.
