Key Job Elements



  • Provide support to shop floor colleagues and supervisors to ensure efficient production processes

  • Provide troubleshooting, and programming support & development for robotic weld cells and collaborative welding robots

  • Support the creation of new robotic welding programs as well as the maintenance and parameter control for existing welding programs

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and refinement of existing robotic programs and product

  • Facilitate timely problem resolution of Manufacturing issues relating to robotic welding including quality issues and technical failures

  • Help develop and maintain operator training documents, work instructions, weld maps and standard hour calculations relating to robotic programs

  • Coordinate and assist in the installation, training and start-up of new/existing robotics technology

  • On-call support and shift work as required


Required Qualifications



  • College Diploma Technician – Welding & Robotics / Manufacturing Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Manufacturing or Heavy Fabrication and Welding

  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience of robotic weld programming

  • Detailed knowledge of robotic welding and setting weld parameters (GMAW)

  • Ability to troubleshoot various robotic software and hardware defects specific to our systems

  • Ability to work within a CAD environment to review and manipulate models to understand as well as generate detailed fabrication and welding work instructions

  • Sound blueprint interpretation skills

  • Ability to work independently as well within a team setting

  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast paced environment

  • Strong communication, presentation and organizational skills


Preferred Qualifications



  • High level of experience with ABB programming, some Fanuc experience

  • Experience with AWS Codes and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)

  • Knowledge of Teamcenter, Maximo and TipQA
