Job Description

Welcome to Square One Medical Clinic<br><br>We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate medical assistant to join our well-established medical clinic in the heart of downtown Mississauga.<br><br>Responsibilities:<ul><li>Working closely with multiple board-certified physicians.</li><li>Perform nursing procedures under the supervision of a physician.</li><li>Assist physicians in exam rooms.</li><li>Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and document all information in the patient's E-Chart.</li><li>Administer allergy shots, vitamin B12 injections, and other vaccinations that patients won't have to wait for a family physician to do.</li><li>Prepare an E-Chart for the physician before the patient is seen.</li><li>Update the physician before he/she sees the patient.</li><li>Perform certain procedures, such as blood draws, and wart removal.</li><li>Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls.</li><li>Be able to direct patients who need urgent attention.</li><li>Call patients with abnormal labs and determine a return-to-office plan for those who need urgent attention and those who can wait to be seen and those who can get treatment over the phone.</li></ul>
<br>Knowledge:<ul><li>Healthcare field and medical specialty.</li><li>Medical terminology.</li><li>Grammar, spelling, and punctuation.</li><li>Knowledge of working in an EMR environment.</li></ul>
<br>Skills:<ul><li>Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette.</li><li>Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.</li><li>The ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections.</li><li>Oscar EMR is an asset.</li></ul>
<br>Education:<ul><li>Medical background (nurse/doctor).</li><li>Medical assistant certification (an asset).</li><li>EMR training.</li></ul>
