MONTREAL Hybrid – Application Production Engineer

We are currently looking for an Application Production Engineer to join one of our clients in the financial sector, based in Montreal.


Role Overview:

As part of a global production engineering team, the selected candidate will support a suite of enterprise applications running on both Linux and Windows environments. The role involves day-to-day operational management, incident handling, automation efforts, and performance monitoring, as well as close collaboration with teams based in North America, Europe, and Asia.

The engineer will contribute to the reliability, scalability, and security of the production systems while also participating in release management, change control, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:


Production Support & Stability


  • Manage application and infrastructure incidents across Linux and Windows environments
  • Handle service requests and perform root cause analysis
  • Monitor and ensure application availability and SLA compliance
  • Oversee application and system backups, restoration, and health checks
  • Ensure technical and functional consistency across environments
  • Coordinate deployment of patches, upgrades, and obsolescence remediations

Monitoring & Automation


  • Design and maintain monitoring for functional and technical components
  • Supervise batch processing and data flows across systems and interfaces
  • Automate tasks and workflows using tools such as GitLab CI, Ansible, and DAIR
  • Contribute to dashboards and production KPIs for performance optimization

Documentation & Collaboration


  • Maintain technical documentation and operating procedures
  • Participate in the release orchestration of critical applications
  • Work closely with teams in Europe and North America in a follow-the-sun support model
  • Contribute to service improvement plans and production governance activities

Technical Environment


  • Operating Systems: RedHat Linux, Windows Server
  • Automation & CI/CD: GitLab CI, Ansible, DAIR
  • Scripting: Shell (Bash)
  • Monitoring: Dynatrace
  • Scheduling/Transfers: Autosys, CFT (nice to have)
  • Containers & Orchestration: Kubernetes
  • Cloud: Experience with any public cloud provider is a plus

Required Skills and Qualifications


  • Strong experience with Linux and Windows server administration
  • Proven knowledge of ITIL practices for incident, problem, and change management
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure security and vulnerability remediation
  • Familiarity with configuration management and DevOps toolchains
  • Hands-on experience with container platforms (Kubernetes)
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work on-call or in 24/7 environments if needed


Nice to Have

  • Experience with ServiceNow for ticketing and change workflows
  • Previous exposure to cloud-based operations (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience working in large-scale production environments in the finance sector

Working Environment

  • Hybrid model: 3 days on-site per week in Montreal
  • Location: Candidate must be based in or willing to relocate to Montreal
  • Languages: Fluency in English required, French is a plus
