We are currently searching for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our team!

The Pharmacy Assistant ensures all investigational products are handled according to GCP guidelines and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of Pharma Medica Research Inc. (PMRI). This position reports to the Manager, Pharmacy and/or designate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inventory all investigational and additional products received
  • Dispense/re-package all investigational and additional products prior to each study period (as per SOPs).
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation of the investigational and additional products at all times during the study (receipt, repackaging, drug administration).
  • Prepare the investigational and additional products as per protocol-specific procedures.
  • Handle and reconcile all investigational and additional products received for studies.
  • Create and maintain the applicable pharmacy documentation for each study conducted.
  • Review all storage conditions and ensure that the storage requirements are maintained and recorded.
  • Ensure the investigational product is in the clinic on time prior to each study.
    Liaise with the Project Management department regarding the receipt, handling and return of all investigational products.
  • Liaise with the Study Coordinators for drug administration training and planning.
  • Work with the clinic nurses and/or designates to maintain and document emergency drugs, products, and supplies in the clinic, including crash carts, emergency medications, AEDs, etc.
  • Responsible for the quarantine, disposal and archiving of investigational and additional products.
  • Maintain the randomization scheme/schedule for each study.
  • Responsible for crash cart maintenance.
  • Assist with study activities (e.g. investigational product administration assistance, vital signs etc.).
  • Assist in the editing and revision of SOPs.
  • Perform duties as the Qualified Person In Charge (QPIC) of controlled substances and Senior Person In Charge (SPIC) of cannabis if approved by Health Canada.
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate (CPhT ), or equivalent experience/education.
  • B.Sc. degree is an asset.
  • cGMP training is an asset.
  • Some knowledge of clinical trials and/or experience in the medical field.
  • Solid computer experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
