About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated part-time Cook to join our team. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing excellent home style meals from scratch for a family of 65 residents, following established meal plans and recipes.

Excellent communication skills are a must, as is the ability to multitask and stay organized. Working in the kitchen means working independently as well as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients for established dishes, such as chopping vegetables and cutting meat.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts - a 5 week rotational menu with 2 options per service.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards when preparing food.
  • Provide assistance to the head chef as required.
  • Follow recipes and cooking techniques to ensure consistency.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff and servers to ensure all orders are prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and to manage when times are slow.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience as a Cook
  • Culinary certificate or equivalent an asset
  • Strong knowledge of best practices and cooking methods, including safe knife-handling skills
  • Strong prep and banquet style cooking
  • Baking skills an asset
  • Able to follow established recipes and meal plans
  • Able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Superb attention to detail while being able to work quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent multitasking and organizational skills while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a motivated team player
  • Reliability is a must
