Process Engineer - Flare and Overpressure Relief Systems
Job Description
1. Able to perform PRV and PVSV sizing calculations. Strong knowledge of overpressure relief scenarios, Understanding of process of hydraulics. Working experience with design principles for flare systems.
2. Lead and facilitate risk assessment sessions for project plant changes. Facilitation of workshops and studies, including Project PHAs, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, Facility Siting/Layout Studies, Bowties, LOPAs, HEMP (Hazard & Effect Management Process) and other process safety risk studies
3. Providing guidance to EPC contractor on preparation of detailed equipment specifications.
4. Provide technical assurance for process equipment safeguarding, pumps, tanks, pressure vessels etc
7. Interpret, review and/or critique critical diagrams such as cause and effect, mechanical flow, piping, and instrumentation (P&ID) diagrams
8. Support Project reviews and lead risk assessment sessions for plant changes. Facilitation of workshops and studies, including PHAs, HAZIDs/HAZOPs, Facility Siting/Layout Studies, Bowties, LOPAs, HEMP (Hazard & Effect Management Process) and other process safety risk studies
10. Provide assurance and guidance on Statement of Fitness-Pre-start-up Safety (SoF-PSSRs) for plant changes, major maintenance, turnarounds, and projects.
12. Identify and model Fire Explosion and Dispersion models using computer programs such as Fire Release Explosion and Dispersion (FRED, PHAST or equivalent).
15. Ability to authenticate the work of others following a thorough review.
16. Facilitating knowledge sharing between executing projects, and the capture and implementation of lessons learned.
17. Application of Human Factors, Operability and Maintainability standards.
18. Construction, commissioning, and start-up support.
Requirements
1. BSc in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
2. 7+ Process Safety and/or Process Engineering experience in the Petroleum Refining, Upgrading and/or Petro-chemicals
3. APEGA registered with Professional Engineering designation a must.
4. Ability to authenticate (stamp) the work of others following a thorough review.
3. Familiarity with process simulation software - Unisym, Hysis, Flarenet
5. Familiarity with dispersion and explosion modelling softwares
6. Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including API 520/521, API 537, API 754, ASME Sec VIII
7. Strong facilitation and communication skills critical to success of role.
8. Strong stakeholder management skills
8. Strong Leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and values diversity
