Why This Role Will Matter
We are looking for an experienced Process or Mechanical Engineer with expertise in off‑gas systems to become part of our team in Canada. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Operations and Engineering teams and external contractors to ensure technical quality and alignment with project objectives. Responsibilities will include reviewing technical documents, providing guidance to engineering contractor, overseeing quality, and coordinating technical activities with suppliers.
What You’ll Be Driving
To bring the off‑Gas system from the current conceptual stage, through procurement, installation, commissioning and operation of a fully functioning system. To achieve this goal you will:
- Lead all technical activities including design, engineering, procurement support, Supplier quality, commissioning and start‑up planning
- Be responsible for technical evaluation of Process solutions by Engineering contractor
- Verify that design and engineering work aligns with project specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices
- Review technical documentation, specifications, drawings, and calculations provided by the study contractor
- Provide formal feedback and guidance to ensure required quality, accuracy, and adherence to project goals and all relevant specifications
- Be responsible for equipment selection through procurement phase
- Support Installation and Commissioning of equipment
- Support start‑up and initial operation of equipment
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures for all related equipment
- Act as the company’s liaison with the study contractor and any other relevant third‑party suppliers within the process engineering discipline
- Conduct thorough quality control checks on process systems, ensuring compliance with project requirements
Technical Expertise
- Assess proposed specifications, process designs, equipment selections, and installation plans
- Assess controls philosophy and associated automation documentation across delivery packages
- Perform or evaluate outcome of third‑party process simulations and optimizations to ensure efficiency and reliability
- Evaluate the supplier proposed solutions for safety, efficiency, and reliability
What You’ll Need to Stand‑out
Core qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and Professional license
- Experience in design/engineering of off‑gas systems or similar complexity process systems
- Experience in operation of off‑gas or complex process system will be an asset
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with large‑scale industrial projects, from FEED to execution phase
- Operational experience with Off‑gas systems or similar complexity process systems
- Experience with powder processing and handling systems
- Familiarity with process simulation software (Preferably Metsim or HSC)
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and regulations in Canada
- Strong communication skills and highly collaborative
- Availability to travel when needed
Where work will be: Onsite, South West Ontario (specific location TBC)
- Onsite with visits to engineering offices, contractor offices and sites for walkthrough and other team meetings
