XNRGY is currently seeking a Product Development Engineer to join its team located in St-Hubert. Reporting to the Director of Production and Manufacturing Engineering, you will be responsible for developing and implementing various products, ensuring they align with customer requirements as communicated by the Application Engineer. This role requires a strong focus on meeting manufacturing deadlines, performance objectives, quality standards, and cost targets while applying lean product development principles. The person will lead cross-functional projects by ensuring effective collaboration between manufacturing, procurement, quality, and service departments to deliver innovative and reliable products.

Your Main Responsibilities:

Product Development Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and validation of HVAC units to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Oversee project execution plans to ensure on-time delivery while achieving cost and quality objectives.
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation in HVAC product performance, quality, and reliability.

Customer Requirement Fulfillment

  • Translate customer requirements provided by the Application Engineer into actionable product specifications and deliverables.
  • Ensure all design and performance attributes meet customer expectations and industry standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and service teams to ensure seamless product design integration into production.
  • Address manufacturability issues early in the development cycle by leveraging interdepartmental expertise.

Project Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, monitor progress against milestones, and anticipate potential risks.
  • Use lean methodologies to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and accelerate time-to-market.

Cost and Quality Management

  • Define and manage Bills of Materials (BOM) to meet cost objectives while maintaining high product quality standards.
  • Ensure HVAC units comply with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.

Performance Validation

  • Oversee the development and execution of test plans to validate product performance under various conditions.
  • Analyze test results and make necessary modifications to meet performance goals.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders on project status, challenges, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure alignment across all departments by fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.

Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement opportunities for improving product development and production workflows.
  • Promote lean development practices with a focus on efficiency and resource optimization.

What You’ll Need (Among Other Things!):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in product development
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional projects and delivering products from concept to production
  • Proficiency in CAD software and engineering tools
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and lean principles (experience with sheet metal is a plus)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse teams
