Senior Product Engineer – DeepTech / AI Developer Tools Location: 3 days a week in our London office About the Company We’re a deep-tech startup building new infrastructure for how software is created in the era of AI. Our platform combines modern developer tooling with intelligent automation, giving engineering teams the ability to understand, modify and ship software faster and with greater confidence. Rather than focusing on code suggestions, our mission is to improve the full development lifecycle -from reasoning about changes to validating, testing and deploying them in complex environments. The Role As a Senior Product Engineer, you’ll help shape a technically ambitious product used directly by engineering teams. You’ll work across architecture, product thinking and hands-on engineering -taking ideas from concept through to shipped features. You’ll collaborate closely with ML/AI specialists, systems engineers, product designers and early users to build a platform that feels natural and powerful for developers. Key Responsibilities Turn product concepts into technical plans: define behaviours, requirements, user journeys and interfaces. Design and implement reliable systems that work across varied codebases, runtimes and development workflows. Build prototypes and production features across backend services, APIs, internal tooling, or UI/CLI surfaces. Work with ML/AI teams to integrate intelligent components and operationalise them safely and predictably. Build developer-friendly workflows that improve productivity, reduce friction and fit into existing engineering practices. Ensure robustness: instrumentation, performance, monitoring, validation, testing and quality. Ship iteratively: experiment, measure impact, refine quickly based on customer and internal feedback. Contribute to long-term architectural and product decisions. What You’ll Bring Solid engineering background (5 years) across backend, systems, APIs or developer tooling. Ability to design and build scalable, reliable systems; comfortable working with complex or multi-language codebases. Understanding of (or strong interest in) AI-augmented developer tools - especially reasoning, automation, or code-aware systems. Experience building or working with developer-facing products such as internal tools, infrastructure, CI/CD or productivity platforms. Strong debugging skills and a focus on correctness, resilience and maintainability. Comfortable collaborating across teams and moving quickly in a startup environment. Nice-to-Haves Experience with multi-language environments (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, TypeScript, Java). Familiarity with orchestrating AI models, agentic systems or program analysis tooling. Experience building secure or isolated execution environments. Background in deep-tech, infra-AI, automation, compilers, static analysis or similar domains.
