<p><strong>RQ00454 - DataOps/Cloud Data Engineer - Senior</strong></p> <p><strong>Hybrid up to 2 days in office - 525 University Avenue<br></strong></p> <p><strong>1-year contract - Starting January 2026</strong></p> <p><strong>1 Openings - 1 Submission</strong><strong></strong></p> <p><strong>Ontario Health - Strategy, Planning, Privacy & Analytics<br></strong></p> <p><strong>Background Information</strong></p> <p>Ontario Health requires a Sr. Data Engineer to develop and operationalize analytics-ready data products that support priority projects and system planning needs. The resource will collaborate with analysts, methodologists, and data scientists to design, build, and optimize datasetsensuring data masking, cohort logic, and patient identification approaches are implemented securely and accurately. The Data Engineer will work across diverse domain assets and data structures, adapt pipelines for performance and scalability, and partner with Data Architecture, ETL and IT Operations to move solutions from sandbox to production.</p> <p>The resource will be critical to support the delivery of the successful design and implementation of the CCSO data collection, analysis and reporting activities within the Ontario Health analytic infrastructure; being transitioned from UHN and ultimately being retired within UHN. </p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p>· Collaborate with analysts and data scientists to develop fit-for-purpose data products.</p> <p>· Write and manage code for data masking, cohort creation, and patient identification algorithms.</p> <p>· Design and build analytics-ready data tables for specific use cases.</p> <p>· Optimize large datasets for performance processing and querying.</p> <p>· Work with diverse domain data assets and formats.</p> <p>· Partner with Data Architecture, ETL, and IT Operations to support sandboxes and operationalize data assets.</p> <p>· Apply modern data engineering practices for consistency, scalability, and reliability.</p> <p>· Communicate technical approaches and insights to stakeholders at all skill levels.</p> <p>· Make sound decisions when navigating complex or ambiguous data engineering issues.</p> <p><strong>Deliverables Include, but are not limited to:</strong></p> <p>· Reusable data transformation and data provisioning scripts</p> <p>· Analytics-ready data and information assets</p> <p>· Cohort creation and patient matching algorithms</p> <p>· Optimized SQL views and performance-tuned data structures</p> <p>· Technical documentation: data dictionaries, lineage diagrams, architecture notes, data information sheets, data and Information assets catalogue</p> <p>· Environment setup, optimization and support</p> <p>· Reports and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders</p> <p><strong>Must Haves:</strong> </p> <ul><li>5+ years of experience in using <strong>SQL</strong>, <strong>Database </strong>design and <strong>Python</strong>.</li><li>5+ years of experience, with working knowledge of <strong>PowerBI</strong></li></ul> <p><strong>Nice to Have:</strong></p> <ul><li><strong>Public Sector Experience</strong></li></ul> <p><strong>Desired skills:</strong><br></p> <ul><li>Familiarity with <strong>SAS </strong>and Informatica <strong>ETL </strong>tool</li><li>Ontario Healthcare data privacy standards and policies</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>Microsoft </strong><strong>Azure </strong>product line</li><li>Familiarity with Federal and provincial health care data</li></ul>
