We are currently hiring for a <strong><em>Senior Software Developer Agentic AI Experimentation & Prototyping</em></strong> for our global IT M&A client in the Toronto area.</p> <p><strong>Role:</strong> Senior Software Developer Agentic AI Experimentation & Prototyping</p> <p><strong>Type:</strong> Fulltime, Perm</p> <p><strong>Salary Range:</strong> $100,000 - $130,000 as base depending on overall experience + bonus + benefits + other great company perks such as AI tooling and AI conference budget </p> <p><strong>Location: </strong>Remote - Toronto, ON, Canada</p> <p><strong>Remote within the United States or Canada (workday overlap from Pacific to Eastern time zones)</strong></p> <h2>Role Overview</h2> <p>Were looking for a <strong>hands-on innovator</strong> who thrives at the cutting edge of whats possible with agentic AI systems. In this role, you will design and deliver <strong>experimental proof-of-concept projects </strong>ranging from one to four weeks in length that explore high-potential but high-risk ideas. The goal: to push the boundaries of agentic AI, surface breakthrough opportunities, and identify which concepts could become transformative products.</p> <p>This position is ideal for a <strong>self-starter</strong> who embraces rapid experimentation, thrives in uncertainty, and believes that <em>failure is always an option</em> on the path to discovery. Youll be tasked with exploring novel approaches, testing unconventional ideas, and turning what if into working prototypes.</p> <p></p> <h2>Key Responsibilities</h2> <h3>Experimental AI Prototyping</h3> <ul><li>Rapidly design, build, and iterate on proofs of concept that integrate agentic AI solutions into real-world workflows.</li><li>Explore high-risk, high-reward ideas with an eye toward surfacing scalable, high-impact opportunities.</li><li>Treat experimentation as the core productfocusing on speed, learning, and insight generation.</li></ul> <h3>Creative Problem Solving</h3> <ul><li>Approach problems with an explorers mindset finding unconventional, creative, and novel ways to apply AI.</li><li>Pivot quickly when ideas fail, extract learnings, and move to the next hypothesis.</li><li>Blend engineering rigor with bold experimentation.</li></ul> <h3>Agentic AI Expertise</h3> <ul><li>Experiment with multi-agent systems, orchestration frameworks, and emerging LLM tooling.</li><li>Push the limits of AI-driven automation, human-in-the-loop systems, and autonomous agents.</li><li>Establish patterns for safety, observability, and guardrails in experimental contexts.</li></ul> <h3>Collaboration & Communication</h3> <ul><li>Share resultsboth successes and failuresopenly to inform future bets.</li><li>Partner with product and research teams to evaluate feasibility and impact of promising prototypes.</li><li>Advocate for an experimentation-first culture within the engineering org.</li></ul> <h2>Minimum Qualifications</h2> <ul><li>5+ years building and delivering production or experimental software systems.</li><li>Strong coding ability in at least one statically typed language (Go, Java, C#) and one scripting language (Python, TypeScript, Bash).</li><li>Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tooling, including prompt engineering and agent frameworks.</li><li>Proven ability to independently scope, prototype, and deliver fast-turnaround projects.</li><li>Comfort with ambiguity, high failure rates, and rapid iteration cycles.</li><li>Curiosity-driven mindset with a demonstrated track record of creative problem solving.</li></ul> <h2>Preferred / Bonus Skills</h2> <ul><li>Prior experience working in labs, skunkworks teams, or exploratory R&D groups.</li><li>Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration, autonomous systems, and reinforcement learning.</li><li>Exposure to design thinking, rapid prototyping, or innovation sprints.</li><li>Background in human-computer interaction or applied AI research.</li></ul> <h2>Work Environment & Benefits</h2> <ul><li>Remote-first with optional hub meet-ups; hardware & co-working stipend.</li><li>Flexible core hours (overlap 9 a.m. 3 p.m. ET).</li><li>Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage in Canada & the U.S.</li><li>Generous vacation, paid learning days, and annual budget for conferences or AI tooling subscriptions.</li></ul> <p><br></p>Browse Jobs in Canada by City
