Course Code and Title: MGAB02 Introductory Financial Accounting II (Emergency)

Locations: WE 15-17, TH 11-13

Course Description: This course is a continuation of MGAB01H3. Students are encouraged to take it immediately after completing MGAB01H3. Technical topics include the reporting and interpretation of debt and equity issues, owners' equity, cash flow statements and analysis. Through cases, choices of treatment and disclosure are discussed, and the development of professional judgment is encouraged.

Credit Hours: 60

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications: Experience with teaching senior students in university and a Ph.D. degree is required. Demonstrated excellence in teaching or presenting and mastery of the subject area.

Preferred qualifications:

• Several years of related progressive professional experience.


• Previous experience teaching a related course at UTSC with consistent, strong course evaluations.


• CPA/ACCA preferred, together with experience in teaching similar courses.

Duties

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student and administrative contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to course.

Approximately 50 minutes per student enrolled over 30.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12.

Academic Calendar

Classes are in-person and run as follows: January 5, 2025 to April 2, 2026.

Exams: April 9, 2026 to April 30, 2026.

Note: All positions involve the completion of all course grading. You must be available throughout the exam period as exams are scheduled centrally and individual preferences for exam times/dates cannot always be accommodated.

Salary

For a half-course (0.50 FCEs) inclusive of vacation pay: The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $9,820.70. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term rate of pay will be $11,030.36.
