Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join our fast-growing team. This role is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can work independently while also contributing positively within a collaborative team environment. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in Canadian tax and accounting practices, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Tax Accountant will work closely with the leadership and consulting teams to support our client's financial health and deliver high-quality tax services to clients. This role plays a key part in preparing, reviewing, and supporting SR&ED tax credit claims while ensuring compliance with CRA regulations and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tax Preparation & Compliance:Prepare and review corporate tax filings and SR&ED tax credit claims while ensuring compliance with CRA legislation, policies, and deadlines.
• Financial Analysis & Documentation:Analyze financial records and project costs to determine SR&ED eligibility and maintain audit-ready documentation to support claims and CRA reviews.
• Client & Internal Collaboration:Collaborate with technical consultants and clients to ensure accurate financial representation of SR&ED projects and provide tax insights to leadership.
• Accounting & Reporting Support:Review financial statements and support related tax filings, including GST/HST and payroll taxes, while contributing to budgeting and financial analysis.
• Systems & Process Improvement:Maintain and improve tax and accounting systems, processes, and documentation to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting or public accounting, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment
• Strong knowledge of Canadian tax legislation; SR&ED experience is an asset
• High proficiency with accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks and tax preparation tools)
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet multiple deadlines
