Job Description
### Key Responsibilities
**Tax Compliance Oversight**
- Supervise the accurate preparation and thorough review of corporate, personal, and trust income tax returns, ensuring timely submission and adherence to CRA regulations.
- Monitor critical filing deadlines to guarantee all client obligations are met efficiently and effectively.
- Review elections, disclosures, and compliance documentation associated with corporate reorganizations, estate planning, and related-party transactions.
- Oversee the preparation and review of T3s, T5s, and other year-end compliance filings to uphold standards.
- Provide expert technical support concerning tax provisions and compliance-related accounting issues, including the calculation of tax reserves.
**Client & Planning Support**
- Offer proactive tax planning strategies related to remuneration structures, estate planning initiatives, succession strategies, and trust utilization.
- Assist clients during CRA audits, manage objections, and provide support for voluntary disclosures as needed.
- Advise clients on the implications of legislative changes, ensuring ongoing compliance with evolving tax laws.
- Collaborate with assurance and advisory teams to provide integrated support for client engagements that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
**Team Leadership & Development**
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of tax professionals, including managers, seniors, and juniors, fostering a culture focused on high performance and client service.
- Deliver ongoing technical training and ensure the continued professional development of all members within the tax group.
- Oversee scheduling and workflow management throughout the tax compliance cycle to optimize efficiency.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding process for new tax professionals, ensuring a smooth integration into the team.
**Practice Management**
- Maintain an advanced understanding of Canadian income tax law and provide guidance on complex compliance challenges.
- Drive operational efficiency and consistency in tax processes by implementing standard operating procedures and leveraging automation tools.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to enhance internal systems, utilizing technology to improve client experiences.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and facilitate cross-selling opportunities within the existing client base to drive firm growth.
