Tax Preparer

Job Description

-Interview clients to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and credits via phone and email.

-Correspond with clients via email and phone to answer questions, resolve complaints or provide future tax planning, to continuously offer outstanding customer service with a pleasant phone manner.

-Calculate tax preparation invoices according to return complexity and processing time required, to collect and process payments.

-Meet critical deadlines during tax season and ability to work well within a team. Must be a quick learner and have ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

-Maintain office standards through organization of filing systems via QuickBooks and physical systems.

-Must have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

-Explain federal and provincial tax laws to individuals and companies.

-Use all appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to keep client's tax liability to a minimum.

-Prepare or assist in preparing simple to complex tax returns for individuals or small businesses.

-Compute taxes owed or overpaid, by completing data entries into tax software.

-Check data input or verify totals on forms prepared by others to detect errors in arithmetic, data entry, or procedures.

-Consult tax law to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns.

-Process and submit payroll, HST, and WSIB.

-Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process to maintain records.

-Create financial statements/ reports and reconcile bank accounts.

-Knowledge of Corporate tax returns in relation to Liabilities, Assets, P/L and Balance Sheet.

-Knowledge of Taxcycle, Profile, and QuickBooks software programs are considered an asset.

-Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is considered necessary.

-Must be available some evenings and weekends, as required. Salary to be determined based on experience and skill.

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
