<strong>Industrial Designer</strong><p> Location: Toronto, ON </p><p> Type: Full-Time, Permanent </p><strong>About the Role</strong><p><br></p><p> We're looking for an Industrial Designer who can combine creativity with technical expertise to help bring our projects from concept to reality. At Mawg, we design and build custom environments, tradeshows, retail displays, and experiential activations. This role sits at the intersection of design and production, focusing on how ideas are engineered, detailed, and executed in the real world. </p><p><br></p><p> You'll work closely with the design, production, and fabrication teams to translate concepts into precise 3D models, drawings, and technical documentation. Your designs will guide how projects are built balancing aesthetics, material selection, structural integrity, and efficient production methods. </p><p><br></p><p> This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, collaborative environment and enjoys seeing their work move from the screen to the shop floor. </p><strong>Design Development & Technical Execution</strong><ul><li> Transform creative concepts into accurate, production-ready designs. Create detailed 3D models and shop drawings that define structure, materials, and finishes. Anticipate challenges early and propose buildable, efficient solutions that balance creativity with practicality. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Documentation & Standards</strong><ul><li> Develop and maintain clear, consistent design documentation that aligns with Mawg's quality standards. Ensure all files, drawings, and specifications are organized, precise, and production-ready. Contribute to refining internal design templates and best practices. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Fabrication & Coordination</strong><ul><li> Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and production teams to align design intent with manufacturing capabilities, timelines, and budgets. Participate in production meetings, coordinate with vendors, and ensure materials and finishes meet project specifications. </li></ul><p><br></p><p><br></p><strong>Prototyping & Quality Control</strong><ul><li> Support the development and testing of prototypes to validate design intent and functionality. Conduct design checks and assist in on-site reviews to ensure builds meet technical accuracy, finish quality, and safety standards. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Research & Innovation</strong><ul><li> Stay informed on new materials, fabrication methods, and design technologies. Contribute fresh ideas and help identify opportunities for innovation that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and design impact across projects. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Visualization & Presentation</strong><ul><li> Produce clear visuals, renderings, and mockups to communicate design intent internally and externally. Support presentations with accurate drawings and visuals that align creative vision with production feasibility. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>What You Bring</strong><ul><li> Bachelor's degree or diploma in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related discipline </li><li> 3-5 years of experience in a design-for-production environment such as fabrication, exhibit, or experiential design </li><li> Advanced proficiency in Fusion 360, SketchUp, Rhino 3D, or similar 3D modeling software. </li><li> Strong understanding of materials, finishes, and fabrication techniques, including wood, metal, acrylic, and composite materials. </li><li> Ability to produce clear and accurate technical drawings suitable for fabrication and installation. </li><li> Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and shop workflows. </li><li> Solid understanding of tolerances, structural support, and fastener types relevant to temporary and permanent installations. </li><li> Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. </li><li> A collaborative mindset and strong attention to detail. </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Nice to Have</strong><p> • Experience with Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Vray rendering. </p><p> • Knowledge of CNC, laser cutting, or digital fabrication processes. </p><p> • Hands-on fabrication or prototyping experience. </p><p> • Exposure to large-scale brand activations, exhibits, or architectural builds. </p><p> • Curiosity about how creative design integrates with production efficiency and real-world constraints. </p><p><br></p><strong>The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here</strong><p> You're someone who enjoys solving problems and figuring out how things work.
