<p><strong>Intermediate Coastal/Marine Engineer, P.Eng</strong></p><p><em>Position: permanent, full-time (40 hours a week), based out of the office at 1801 Hollis, Halifax, NS </em></p><p><br></p><p><strong>About EastPoint</strong></p><p>EastPoint is a multi-discipline architectural and engineering firm based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Structural/Marine department consists of roughly 20 engineers, designers, site staff and BIM techs.</p><p><strong>About Our Opportunity</strong></p><p>Reporting to the Manager of Marine Engineering, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, developing and implementing technical solutions in both the office and field. You will participate in all project design phases, from feasibility assessment and detailed design, through to tendering, construction, and commissioning. In return for the skillset and expertise you bring you will be given a competitive compensation and benefits package.</p><p>EastPoint is looking for an <strong>Intermediate Marine/Coastal Engineer with 5 years of experience</strong> in the structural/marine engineering industry. We encourage continuous learning and provide clear pathways for career advancement.</p><p><strong>Primary Accountabilities</strong></p><p>We count on your expertise to:</p><ul><li>Provide concept and detailed design, under the direct supervision of a senior engineer, for infrastructure projects including but not limited to wharfs, piers, bollards, breakwaters, revetments, seawalls, buildings, bridges, and industrial facilities.</li><li>Project clients range from Defence projects, government entities, industrial projects to homeowners and range in size of a few thousand to half a million.</li><li>Projects involve rehabilitation, new builds, load analysis, condition assessments and many more.</li><li>Review drawings, plans and change orders to verify structural integrity of materials and designs and perform complex calculations and use modelling methods to ensure accurate results.</li><li>Interpretation of Geotechnical Reports, bathymetric and topographical studies to perform various types of foundation design.</li><li>Coordination of design team activities, direct internal and external project team including drafting techs, sub-consultants, and sub-contractors </li><li>Conduct feasibility assessments and site inspections, as well as prepare technical reports.</li><li>Mentor and support new engineers and technicians, offering technical guidance and fostering their professional growth.</li></ul><p><strong>Skills / Training Requirements</strong></p><p>This opportunity might be the right fit if you enjoy an open and collaborative office environment with a team that likes to have fun together, in and out of the office. Your ideas will be valued, and your technical expertise will have the opportunity to grow and develop.</p><ul><li>Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Nova Scotia or the ability to register with Engineers Nova Scotia.</li><li>Bachelor's or degree in civil/structural engineering from an accredited University required.</li><li>5+ years' applicable experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects including, but not limited to marine structures, bridges, and buildings.</li><li>Experience with ETABS, PROFIS, STAAD, Optimoor or similar structural analysis software is considered an asset.</li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of structural/marine design guidelines and codes including Bridge Code (CSA S6), Design of Marine Facilities (ASCE), Concrete Code (CSA A23.3), Steel Code (CSA S16) and Timber Code (CSA O86).</li><li>Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.</li><li>Demonstrated self-starter.</li><li>Superior verbal and written communication skills.</li><li>Able to travel to various locations across Canada, maximum 5 days per 60-90 days.</li><li>All successful applicants must meet requirements to obtain a minimum of Reliability Status clearance through the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) within 6 months of start date.</li></ul>
