<p>Role and Facility Information<br/>Kamloops is a flourishing city of 100,000 set amid sandstone canyons, rolling grasslands, and magnificent evergreen woods. Sun Peaks Resort offers winter recreation within a short drive.<br/>Practice Details: Join our growing neurology team at RIH and help shape neurological care in our region. We are a collegial team focused on continuous practice improvement and collaboration. Our full spectrum neurology practice includes inpatient care for general neurology and acute stroke (including thrombolysis). Care is provided in the Gaglardi patient care tower, housing a multi-disciplinary stroke/rehabilitation unit. Hospitalist and internal medicine teams support neurology admissions. We collaborate with Neurosurgery, Vascular Surgery, Physical Medicine & Rehab, Cardiology, General Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases, with regional ties to Kelowna General Hospital to develop subspecialty care pathways.<br/>Outpatient neurology clinics are located in the Clinical Services Building. The TIA/stroke clinic operates five days a week and is supported by a full-time RN and a booking clerk. The EMG lab is state of the art and staffed by an experienced technician. The EEG lab serves both inpatient and outpatient needs. There are plans for rapid access neurology clinics and expanded subspecialty neurology clinics.<br/>If you are interested in teaching, you can be actively involved with UBC clerkship and residency programs. On-site medical students, family medicine residents, internal medicine residents, and rotating residents in psychiatry and neurology participate. It’s better here!<br/>Clinic Details: Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) is a 273-bed facility serving nearly 250,000 people in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap Health Service Area. As the region’s leading tertiary referral hospital and Level 1 Trauma Centre, RIH handles over 250 major trauma cases and about 72,000 Emergency Department visits annually. The Phil and Jennie Gaglardi Tower opened in 2022 and features advanced mental health units and surgical services. Recent developments include a post-anesthetic recovery room, a pediatric unit, and revamps to the emergency entrance, with completion planned by autumn 2026. A future $359-million cancer centre will enhance cancer care by 2028. The teams provide comprehensive care across internal medicine, OB/GYN, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ENT, pathology, psychiatry, pediatrics, anesthesia, radiology, urology, and family practice inpatient care.<br/>Compensation and Benefits: Compensation Type Fee-for-Service. Estimated remuneration: $500,000 + MOCAP Level 1. Relocation funding is available: up to $9,000 within BC, $12,000 within Canada, and $15,000 from outside Canada, with eligible receipts.
